Manchester [UK], October 26: Ahead of the Premier League match against Southampton, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola provided an update on midfielder Kevin De Bruyne's injury during a press conference on Friday.
Manchester City is set to face Southampton in Matchweek 9 at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
"Not yet. I don't know when Kevin will be back. I would prefer to have the entire squad available given the number of games, but it is what it is. Hopefully, he'll return soon. I'd like to provide an update, but I can't," Guardiola stated.
De Bruyne has been crucial for Manchester City during the 2023-24 Premier League season, despite being sidelined for the first half of the season due to injury. He has scored four goals and provided 10 assists in 18 Premier League matches.
The Belgian midfielder joined Manchester City in August 2015 from Wolfsburg and netted his 100th goal for the club against Crystal Palace in April. He has recorded numerous assists in his career, including 19 assists for Erling Haaland over the past two seasons. De Bruyne holds the record for the fastest player to reach 100 Premier League assists, achieving this in just 237 matches.
Guardiola also informed the media that wingers Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku would not be available for selection in this match.
Currently, Manchester City sits second in the table with 20 points from 8 games, while Southampton is in 19th place with only one point from their 8 matches.
