Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the 18th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on Saturday during an event in Washim, Maharashtra.

According to the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, this instalment will exceed ₹20,000 crore and will be distributed to over 9.4 crore farmers across the country via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring that the funds reach them directly without intermediaries.

The event will be celebrated as PM-KISAN Utsav Divas throughout India, with approximately 2.5 crore farmers expected to participate via webcasts from more than 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), one lakh Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, and five lakh Common Service Centres.

Launched in February 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme offers an annual benefit of ₹6,000 to eligible landholding farmers, disbursed in three instalments. With this latest release, the total disbursement under the scheme will exceed ₹3.45 lakh crore, benefiting over 11 crore farmers nationwide.

In Maharashtra alone, ₹32,000 crore has been transferred to about 1.20 crore farmers, with this instalment providing more than ₹1,900 crore to around 91.51 lakh farmers.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will allocate ₹2,000 crore to farmers in Maharashtra under the fifth instalment of the Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana.

To enhance agricultural infrastructure, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate several projects completed within the first 100 days of the new government, funded through the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF). Established in 2020, the AIF aims to provide medium- to long-term financing to improve post-harvest management and community farming infrastructure.

Over 10,066 projects have been approved nationwide, with more than 7,500 already completed. These projects are vital for enhancing storage, processing, and logistics facilities, which improve farmers' access to markets and value addition.

Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) will also benefit from this event, with around 9,200 FPOs being established under a Central Sector Scheme (CSS) that aims to create 10,000 FPOs across the country. These FPOs currently support 24 lakh farmers, including 8.3 lakh women and 5.77 lakh beneficiaries from SC and ST communities, collectively generating an annual turnover of ₹1,300 crore.

This initiative is part of a larger strategy to improve the livelihoods of small, marginal, and landless farmers by enhancing market access and developing strong value chains.

The Prime Minister will introduce new initiatives to advance dairy farming, including a cost-effective indigenous sex-sorted semen production technology, along with Gau Chip for cattle and Mahish Chip for buffalo. These genomic chips will enable farmers to make informed decisions in selecting high-quality animals, thereby improving dairy productivity and sector efficiency.

In line with India’s clean energy objectives, Prime Minister Modi will oversee the e-Distribution of Letters of Award for 3,000 MW under the KUSUM-C (MSKVY 2.0) scheme, aimed at promoting solar energy in agriculture. As part of this effort, five solar parks with a total capacity of 19 MW will be inaugurated, located in Dhondalgaon, Bamni Bk., Kondgiri, Jalalabad, and Palshi Bk. These parks will provide farmers with daytime electricity and opportunities to earn additional income by leasing their land for solar installations.
