Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), September 2: The Meteorological Office has issued a warning for very heavy rainfall in five districts of Madhya Pradesh over the next 24 hours. The affected districts are Burhanpur, Khargone, Dewas, Harda, and Betul. Additionally, 22 other districts in the state are expected to experience heavy rainfall.
Meteorologist BS Yadav explained that a depression in East Vidarbha and a trough line extending from Sriganganagar in Rajasthan to Gondia are causing moisture influx from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, resulting in cloudy weather and heavy rains.
Moderate thunderstorms with lightning are anticipated in Alirajpur and Barwani, while light rain is expected in Jhabua, Dhar/Mandu, Khandwa/Omkareshwar, Khargone/Maheshwar, Burhanpur, Betul, and Pandhurna.
Recent rainfall data shows Khargone received 104.2 mm, Khandwa 73 mm, Ujjain 39 mm, Ratlam 33 mm, Dar 30.8 mm, Narmadapuram 28.9 mm, Betul 27.8 mm, Bhopal 23.8 mm, and Indore 23.6 mm in the past 24 hours.
The IMD also reported that the depression over South Odisha and adjoining areas is moving west-northwest and is expected to weaken into a low-pressure area in the coming 24 hours.
