Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], October 3: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited Chamundi Hill on Thursday to participate in the inauguration of the 10-day Dussehra festival in Mysuru, where he offered puja to Goddess Chamundeshwari.
The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, renowned writer Hampa Nagarajaiah, who lit a lamp and showered flowers on the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari in the temple. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, along with several ministers including H.K. Patil, K. Venkatesh, and Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, were also in attendance.
Recently, following the Enforcement Directorate (ED) booking the Karnataka CM for money laundering related to the alleged MUDA land allotment scam, his wife wrote to the MUDA Commissioner, expressing her intention to surrender the 14 plots allocated to her by the authority.
The Mysuru Lokayukta has formally initiated an inquiry into the matter following a court order on September 27 to file an FIR. The Lokayukta was tasked with investigating allegations of irregularities in the allocation of 14 sites valued at ₹56 crore to Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvathi, by MUDA. It is alleged that MUDA illegally granted these prime location sites in Mysuru city to the Chief Minister's wife.
In a strong response to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated on Wednesday that Nathuram Godse is the leader of the BJP and urged citizens to counter the alleged conspiracy of the BJP to shape India according to Godse's ideology.
Regarding the question of the land being 'gifted,' he clarified that the land in question was a gift from his wife's brother and that MUDA had encroached upon it. He mentioned that his wife had requested an alternative site but did not specify Vijayanagara, which was ultimately allocated to her.
He asserted that the issue has turned into a political conflict and emphasized that the allegations of money laundering are irrelevant to his case. He highlighted that his wife's actions were driven by a desire to avoid controversy.
