New York [US], October 3 : Indian Ambassador to the UN, Parvathaneni Harish, paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, October 2, at the Gandhi statue in New York. He highlighted that Gandhi's presence serves as a "constant reminder" of the importance of truth and non-violence, stating, "Peace is the way." Harish also participated in an event marking the International Day of Non-Violence, emphasizing its significance in promoting a culture of peace, tolerance, and understanding.

In San Francisco, Consul General K. Srikar Reddy and consulate officers honored Gandhi with floral tributes at his statue, reflecting on the values of truth and compassion he championed. 

The UN commemorated Gandhi's commitment to non-violence, stating, "Wednesday's International Day of Non-Violence marks the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, a leader who remained committed to the principle of non-violence." The UN's statement underscored the ongoing global violence and the need for renewed multilateralism to address underlying causes of conflict, urging nations to transform commitments made at the recent Summit of the Future into actionable solutions.
