New Delhi [India], October 26: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda on Saturday appointed former MP Ravindra Kumar Rai as the working president of the party’s Jharkhand unit, effective immediately.

"Jagat Prakash Nadda, National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has appointed Dr. Ravindra Kumar Rai, former MP, as the working president of the BJP Jharkhand. This appointment is effective immediately," stated Arun Singh, National General Secretary and Headquarters Incharge.

As preparations continue for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, the BJP on Friday released its list of 40 star campaigners for the polls.

This list includes key figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, and Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states, including Yogi Adityanath (Uttar Pradesh), Nayab Singh Saini (Haryana), Mohan Majhi, Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Vishnu Deo Sai (Chhattisgarh), are also part of the star campaigners.

On Saturday, BJP announced its initial list of 66 candidates for the election, as the ruling JMM-led alliance finalized its seat-sharing arrangement.

For the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, BJP is aligned with the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). The BJP will field candidates for 68 seats, AJSU for 10 seats, JD(U) for two seats, and LJP for one seat.

State BJP Chief Babulal Marandi will run from Dhanwar, with Lobin Hembrom representing Borio and Sita Soren representing Jamtara. Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren is set to contest from Saraikella, Geeta Balmuchu from Chaibasa, Geeta Koda from Jaganathpur, and Meera Munda, wife of Union Minister Arjun Munda, will compete for Potka.

In contrast, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) released its fifth candidate list on Friday, as stated in a press release. The elections will be held across 81 assembly seats in two phases on November 13 and November 20.
