Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand) [India], October 26: In a significant enhancement for local tourism and community involvement, a tent-based homestay was inaugurated in the scenic and historically rich area of Kalapani in Pithoragarh district, as part of Operation Sadbhavna. The inauguration was conducted by Brigadier SPS Chouhan, Commander of the Panchshul Brigade.
This initiative aims to provide tourists with an authentic glimpse into the vibrant local culture, aligning with the central government's Vibrant Village program while also promoting sustainable tourism practices.
The opening ceremony saw the attendance of Brijesh Garbyal, Sarpanch of Garbyang village, who highlighted the significance of such initiatives in improving the livelihoods of rural communities.
The homestay offers travelers a unique retreat while supporting nation-building efforts backed by the Indian Army, which encourages rural development and strengthens the bonds between visitors and locals.
This commendable initiative promotes the Vibrant Villages program and is expected to boost the rural economy.
The Indian Army is also involved in various projects, including village electrification, hybrid solar plant installations, and medical camps in border areas of the Kumaon region, aiming to foster tourism and encourage the reverse migration of locals.
